Kick off the holiday season with a slice of fun at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center’s 13th annual “Say It Ain’t Say’s” Sweet Potato Pie Contest! Join us for a day filled with mouthwatering pie tasting, live music, and community cheer as we honor the generous spirit of Robert “Say” McIntosh. Sample incredible pies crafted by talented bakers, celebrate the legacy behind this beloved tradition, and enjoy the festive holiday atmosphere.

This year, all participants are required to bring a new, unopened toy to support the Robert “Say” McIntosh STOP the Violence Toy Drive—helping spread joy to children in our community.

Sweet Potato Pie Contest Rules 2026

Registration:

All participants must register by October 15. Registration will close after this date.

Entry fee for bakers:

Registration is free, but all participants must bring a new, unopened toy to support the STOP the Violence Toy Drive. This donation is required for entry.

Eligibility:

Open to all bakers. All bakers must attend a mandatory Zoom orientation meeting, Tuesday, November 3 at 5:30 PM.

Requirements:

• Size- Standard 9-inch Pie
• Quantity- 5 pies. One for judging, 4 for attendees to taste
• Origin – All pies must be completely homemade, including crusts.
• Allergen disclosure- All allergens must be included (i.e. nuts, dairy, etc.)
• Ingredients- Sweet Potato must be the primary ingredient.

Judging Categories and Descriptions:

• Taste – Flavor should be well-balanced, with natural sweetness and a strong sweet potato taste.
• Texture – Filling should be smooth, creamy, and consistent throughout.
• Appearance – Pies should be visually appealing and neatly presented.
• Overall – Judges will consider the complete experience, including taste, appearance, and overall enjoyment.

• 1^st Place
• 2^nd Place
• 3^rd Place
• People’s Choice Award- All attendees may sample pies and vote for their favorite. The pie with the most votes will be awarded People’s Choice Award.

Photo & Media Use Rights:

By participating in the contest, all entrants grant the event organizers permission to photograph and record their participation. Participants agree that any images, videos, or media captured during the event may be used for promotional, marketing, and publicity purposes in print, digital, or social media formats. No compensation will be provided for this use.
